Here's a shot of the 2008 garden taken on July 4. You can see the L-shaped Zone 3, and a bit of Zone 4 on the stairs and Zone 5 in the window box. My attempt to mix flowers and vines in Zone 5 was a complete disaster. I'll do better this year. The large plant with the purple flowers front and center is amethyst astilbe, which seems to do particularly well in my yard. I added another last year (after this shot was taken) and might add yet another this year.
